Wheel Speed Sensor: Description and Operation
One
wheel speed sensor (WSS) is located at each wheel and sends an AC signal to the Controller, Antilock Brake
(CAB). The voltage is generated by magnetic induction when a tooth sensor ring passes by a stationary magnetic sensor. The CAB then converts the AC signal into digital signals for each wheel. The four wheel speed sensors are serviced individually. The front tone wheels are serviced as an assembly with the outer CV joint housing. The rear tone wheels are serviced as an assembly with the rotor hub.
