Throttle Body Replacement

REMOVAL

Air Cleaner And Throttle Body Assembly:




1. Fuel system pressure release must be performed prior to service. Service and Repair
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal, and remove air cleaner.
3. Remove the turbocharger to throttle body hose and its clamp.
4. Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
^ Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
^ Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor
5. Remove the throttle return spring.

6. Remove throttle cable. Service and Repair
7. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the throttle body.
8. If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission and/or speed control, remove the kick-down and speed control cables.
9. Remove throttle body mounting nuts and lift throttle body off of intake plenum.
10. Discard old intake gasket.





INSTALLATION

1. Clean the throttle body mounting surface on the intake plenum.
2. Using a new gasket, install the throttle body onto the intake manifold, and tighten the mounting bolts.
3. Connect the throttle body vacuum hoses.
4. Connect the following electrical connectors:
^ Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
^ Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor

5. Reconnect the throttle return spring.
6. Attach throttle cable. Service and Repair
7. If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission and/or speed control, install the kick-down and speed control cables.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Perform fuel system pressure test to check for leaks. [1][2]Fuel System Leak Test
10. Install the air cleaner assembly.
