Throttle Body: Description and Operation
Throttle Body:
The throttle body assembly is located between the turbocharger and the intake manifold and houses the throttle plate, throttle position sensor, and the Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor. Intake air flow is controlled by the cable operated throttle plate and a separate idle air by-pass channel (controlled by the AIS motor). Engine idle speed is controlled by the AIS motor adjusting the amount of air passing through the air by-pass channel. At idle the throttle plate is closed.
