Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Service and Repair

Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) Motor:





1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Disconnect the Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor wiring connector.
3. Remove the mounting screws (2), and remove the AIS from throttle body, making sure the "O"-ring is still on the AIS motor.
4. Install new AIS motor using a new "O"-ring.
NOTE: If the pintle measures more than 1 in. (25 mm), it must be retracted by using the "AIS motor test" in the actuate output mode of the scan tool. The battery must be reconnected for this procedure.
5. Install the retaining screws, torquing them to 17 lb-in (2 Nm).
6. Connect the AIS motor wiring connector.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
