Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
Fuel Filter Location:
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, and remove the fuel tank cap.
2. Raise, and support the vehicle for access.
3. Remove fuel filter hoses and clamps from the inlet and outlet fuel lines. Remove the mounting bracket bolt, and remove the filter.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the new filter assembly on the mounting plate. Check the direction of flow by the markings on the filter, and ensure it is correct.
2. Install the mounting bolt, and torque to 8 Nm (75 lb-in)
3. Install the inlet and outlet hoses, and clamps. Tighten the clamps securely. Lower the vehicle. Reconnect negative battery terminal.
4. Using the appropriate tester (DRB II) or equivalent scanner, place ignition switch in "RUN" position and use Actuate Output Test "Auto Shutdown (ASD) Relay", to activate fuel pump and pressurize system.
CAUTION: The ASD relay and the fuel pump relay will remain energized for 7 minutes during this test unless the test is stopped or the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position.
5. Check for leaks.
