Side Rail Removal

43. Remove the shoulder bolts, bushings and the spring washers attaching the side rails to No. 1 bow (discard the bolts only) (Fig 12).

NOTE:
SAVE ALL THE BOLTS AND WASHERS FOR INSTALLATION LATER UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. (PREVENT THE BOLTS AND WASHERS FROM FALLING INTO THE QUARTER INNER PANEL.)

44. Remove the side rail center link shoulder bolts and washers attaching it to the side rails.

45. Remove the side rail center links from the side rails.

46. Remove the control link shoulder bolts and washers attaching it to the side rails.

47. Remove the control links from the side rails.

48. Remove the side rail, weatherstrip retainer and the weatherstrip assembly.

NOTE:
DISCARD SIDE RAIL WEATHERSTRIP AND RETAINER.


49. Remove side rail No. 1 bow mounting plate bolts.

NOTE:
THE BOLTS ARE INSTALLED WITH PERMANENT LOCTITE REQUIRING SPECIAL CARE IN REMOVAL.

CAUTION:
IF THE BOLTS ARE DAMAGED OR IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE, THEY MUST BE DRILLED OUT. TAKE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE THE SURROUNDING SURFACE OR EXISTING HOLES IN THE MOUNTING PLATE.
