Differential Assembly Replace

MODELS EQUIPPED W/INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION

Fig. 8 Torque tube assembly. Conquest:

1. Drain gear oil into suitable container.
2. Remove drive axles as outlined.
3. Remove torque tube as follows:
a. Remove driveshaft.
b. Apply parking brake, then loosen torque tube companion flange attaching nut. Loosen nut only. Do not remove.
c. Remove torque tube to differential attaching bolts, then the torque tube to front support attaching bolts.
d. Using a suitable slide hammer, remove extension shaft spline from spline coupling.
e. Remove slide hammer, then pull torque tube assembly out towards rear.
4. Remove rear support insulator to crossmember attaching nuts, then the rear support to rear support insulator attaching nuts.
5. Raise differential carrier assembly with suitable jack, then disconnect differential carrier from rear support insulators.
6. Remove carrier.
