SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Subject vehicle may exhibit a cold sag and/or cold surge anytime before the engine reaches normal operating temperature. This condition will be more noticeable in cold ambients and will be most pronounced under wide open throttle conditions.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
This repair procedure involves the installation of a modulator kit to alter the throttle potentiometer schedule to the ECI. After this repair, the throttle position sensor output voltage, as measured at the ECI, should not exceed 3 volts at wide open throttle.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the under-cover located beneath the glove, box. Disconnect the in-car sensor wire from the under-cover as shown in Figure 1.
3. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel.
4. Remove the glove box striker.
5. Remove the ECI unit from behind the right kick pad.
6. Connect the new wiring harness to the ECI unit.

7. Also connect the new wiring harness to the existing vehicle wiring harness as shown in Figure 2.

8. Reinstall the ECI unit along with the newly attached wiring harness. Make sure the new harness is correctly routed and secured (Figure 3).
9. Attach modulator, PN MD099402 or MD104805 for 1985-1/2, to bracket, PN MD099403, using the four screws, PN MF243622.
10. Connect the modulator to fhe newly installed wiring harness.
11. Attach modulator and bracket assembly, along with the glove box striker, to the instrument panel.
12. Reinstall glove box.
13. Reconnect in-car sensor on the under-cover to vehicle wiring harness and reinstall under-cover onto instrument panel.
14. Reconnect negative battery cable.
15. Start engine and road test vehicle to insure the sag and/or surge has been eliminated.

16. Attach Authorized Modification Label, PN 4275086, as illustrated in Figure 4.
