Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

1. Remove high floor side panel from luggage compartment floor, then the fuel pump connector access panel.
2. Start engine, then disconnect fuel pump and gauge sending unit electrical connectors.
3. When engine stops from lack of fuel, turn off ignition and disconnect battery ground cable.
4. Remove fuel tank cap, raise and support rear of vehicle and drain fuel into suitable container.
5. Remove left rear wheel and fuel pipe cover, then mark and disconnect fuel and vapor hoses.
6. Disconnect fuel filler and breather hoses from tank.
7. Support fuel tank and remove retaining bolts, then lower tank from vehicle.
8. Remove fuel pump from tank.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
