Windshield Washer Pump - Removal





DIESEL ENGINE






NOTE: The washer pump/motor unit can be removed from the washer reservoir without removing the reservoir from the vehicle.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Siphon the washer fluid from the washer reservoir (3) into a clean container for reuse.
3. Remove the splash shield from the left front fender (1) wheel housing of the vehicle. Splash Shield - Removal.
4. Disconnect the Front End Module (FEM) wire harness connector (6) from the washer pump/motor unit (2) connector receptacle on the top of the motor housing.
5. Pull lightly outward on the top of the washer pump/motor housing, away from the washer reservoir to disengage the top of the motor from the receptacle in the reservoir.
6. Pull the washer pump/motor unit straight up and out of the washer reservoir far enough to disengage the inlet nipple on the base of the pump housing from the rubber grommet seal/filter screen in the reservoir.
7. Raise the washer pump/motor unit far enough to access and disconnect the washer hose from the barbed pump outlet nipple.
8. Remove the washer pump/motor unit from the front of the washer reservoir.
9. Remove the rubber grommet seal/filter screen from the washer pump mounting hole in the reservoir and discard.
