Service Procedure
A. Replace the Engine Oil Filler Neck1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the oil fill cap (Figure 1).
3. Remove the E10 TORX fastener on the oil filler neck (Figure 1).
4. Rotate the oil filler neck 1/4 turn counter clockwise.
5. Remove and discard the oil filler neck from the valve cover.
6. Verify that the oil filler neck seal is present and properly seated on the new oil filler neck (Figure 2).
7. Lubricate the oil filler neck seal with a light film of engine oil.
8. Index the new oil filler neck to the valve cover and rotate the oil filler neck 1/4 turn clockwise.
9. Install the E10 TORX fastener and tighten to 70 in.lbs (8 N.m) (Figure 1).
10. Install the oil fill cap.
11. Inspect the valve cover for signs of previous oil filler neck leakage.
> If signs of previous oil leakage are present, continue with Section B - Degrease the Engine.
> If there are no signs of previous oil leakage, close the hood and return the vehicle to the customer.
B. Degrease the Engine
1. Warm up the engine before applying engine degreaser.
2. Vigorously shake the can of engine degreaser for one minute.
3. Spray all areas of the engine to be cleaned.
CAUTION:
Avoid spraying engine degreaser on painted surfaces. Paint dulling or wax removal may occur.
4. Allow 10 minutes for the engine degreaser to penetrate.
5. Rinse the areas being cleaned with hot water (spray at maximum pressure).
6. After the area has been thoroughly rinsed with hot water, start the engine immediately and allow to idle until completely dry.
7. Close the hood.
