Automatic Door Lock Feature Change

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin discusses information about a running change to the auto lock function.

DISCUSSION:
Sprinter vehicles have a feature that will automatically re-lock the doors after 40 seconds if the doors are unlocked using the (RKE) transmitter and not opened within 40 seconds. Vehicles built as chassis cab (incomplete) units will have this feature disabled as of March 18, 2008. This feature change was implemented because vendors adding bodies to the chassis cab unit may install different rear doors that do not communicate with the cab doors of the vehicle and may cause the operator to inadvertently lock the keys in the vehicle.
