Removal/Installation

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove rear wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove hub cotter pin, locknut and spring washer, then hub nut and washer.
4. The halfshaft outer CV joint, when installed, serves as a bolt and attaches the hub/bearing assembly. If the vehicle is to be supported or moved on its wheels, install a bolt through the hub. Ensuring hub/bearing assembly will not loosen.
5. Remove inner shaft attaching bolts.
6. Compress inner halfshaft joint slightly, then pull downward to clear differential. Pull halfshaft assembly outward to remove.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Torque inner shaft to carrier attaching bolts to 45 ft. lbs. Torque rear brake assembly and spindle attaching bolt to 80 ft. lbs., then wheel lug nuts to 95 ft. lbs.
