Front Door - Replacement Precautions

NO: 23-04-94

GROUP: Body

DATE: Jan. 21, 1994

SUBJECT:
Front Door Impact Beam Isolator/Retainer Assembly

MODELS:

1992 - 1994 (AS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager

DISCUSSION:

1994 AS-Body vehicles are equipped with impact beams in the doors. When replacing a front door assembly (P/N 4638198 or P/N 4638199) it is also necessary to order the corresponding isolator/retainer assembly (P/N 4673276 or P/N 4673277). The original isolator/retainer assembly cannot be transferred to the replacement door without damaging the isolator/retainer assembly because of its self-adhesive backing.

If a new isolator/retainer assembly is not installed in the replacement door, a severe rattle will be experienced because of contact between the door glass and the impact beam.

The Mopar Parts Catalog currently specifies P/N 4773208 and P/N 4773209 as the replacement doors for 1992 and 1993 AS-Body vehicles. When stocks of P/N 4773208 or P/N 4773209 are depleted, they will supersede to the 1994 doors P/N 4638198 or P/N 4638199 respectively, and will also require a corresponding isolator/retainer assembly (P/N 4673276 or P/N 4673277).
