Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

Throttle Cable:

REMOVAL
1. From inside the vehicle, remove the cable housing retainer clip, and core wire cable retainer. Remove the core wire from the pedal shaft.
2. From under the hood, pull the housing end fitting out of the dash panel grommet, leaving the grommet in the dash panel hole.
3. Remove the cable slug from the carburetor lever stud. Separate the cable mounting bracket, and with wide jaw pliers compress the end fitting tabs.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the carburetor end of the cable housing into the cable mounting bracket on the engine and attach the cable slug with the retaining clip on the carburetor lever stud.
2. Install the other end of the cable through the dash panel grommet and attach the housing retainer clip from inside the vehicle.
3. Install the ball end of the cable through the hole in the pedal shaft, and install the plastic cable retainer.
