DTC A086: EBCM Turned on the Red Brake Warning Lamp

EBCM TURNED ON THE RED BRAKE WARNING LAMP

Diagnosis
This is an information-only test and reflects the status of the command issued by the ABS electronic brake control module (EBCM) to illuminate the brake warning light.

Fail Action
This test is for service only. It is to distinguish if the brake warning lamp was enabled due to an ABS failure. If another diagnostic test issues a command to illuminate the BRAKE indicator, DTC A086 will be stored in EEPROM as a history DTC at the conclusion of the ignition cycle.

Test Description
The number(s) below refer to step(s) on the diagnostic table.
1. This step serves to identify if a DTC other than DTC A086 commanded the BRAKE indicator on.

Diagnostic Aids
Any ABS mechanical DTC that issues a command to illuminate the BRAKE indicator will also result in DTC A086 being stored in EEPROM during shut down. These DTCs are A042, A046, and A051. If the motors are not in their home position, certain electrical DTCs will also command the BRAKE indicator on. These DTCs are A014, A016, A018, A036, A055, A064, A065, and A066.
Any other DTCs indicated along with DTC A086 must be corrected prior to addressing a DTC A086 malfunction.
