Rear Window Power Sunshade - Operation

OPERATION

The front sunshade switch is a soft switch in the Integrated Center Stack (ICS) Screen. The ICS sends the sunshade message to the Body Control Module (BCM) through the Telematics GateWay (TGW). The BCM sends a signal to the SunShade Module (SSM) from its flipper glass output. The SSM will extend or retract the sunshade depending on current position. SSM will stop the sunshade when it reaches the extended or retracted position. If an object is detected in the path of the sunshade, the SSM will stop the sunshade in the current position. If the SSM receives the reverse signal from the BCM, the SSM will wait one second and then drive the sunshade to the down position if it is still receiving the reverse signal. The SSM will determine if the sunshade had been lowered in reverse and return the sunshade to the up position after the reverse signal stops. If either sunshade buttons are pressed in reverse mode, the sunshade will begin to operate as normal operation and ignore the reverse input. It will continue to ignore the reverse input until it detects the reverse signal is gone.

The rear sunshade switch receives a RUN / ACC delay power feed, the same as the sunshade module. A signal from the rear switch will be fed into the BCM flipper switch input. BCM will lockout the rear switch only when the window lockout message is received from the Drivers Door Module (DDM). The cluster will control the illumination circuit and will not indicate if the switch is enabled or disabled.
