Battery - Installation






INSTALLATION

WARNING: A SUITABLE PAIR OF HEAVY DUTY RUBBER GLOVES AND SAFETY GLASSES SHOULD BE WORN WHEN REMOVING OR SERVICING A BATTERY.

WARNING: REMOVE METALLIC JEWELRY TO AVOID INJURY BY ACCIDENTAL ARCING OF BATTERY CURRENT.





1. Position the battery in the battery tray.





2. Install the battery hold down clamp and bolt. Tighten the bolt to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.).





CAUTION: Use care when connecting the battery vent tube to the battery. The vent tube nipple is made of plastic and is easily damaged if not connected properly.

NOTE: Before installing the vent tube verify that the vent tube is not broke or plugged and that there is no cuts, cracks or tears.

3. Gently connect the battery vent tube to the battery nipple.
4. Latch the battery retention strap.
5. Connect the battery positive cable.
6. Connect the intelligent battery sensor (IBS) to the negative battery post.
7. Install the rear compartment floor trim panel.
