Heater Core - Installation

INSTALLATION

NOTE: LHD model shown. RHD model similar.





1. Carefully install the heater core (5) into the driver side of the HVAC air distribution housing (6).
2. Install the heater core bracket (3) and retaining screw (4). Tighten the screw to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.).
3. Remove the tape or plugs from the heater core tubes (1) and the heater core ports.
4. Lubricate new O-ring seals with clean engine coolant and install them onto the heater core tubes. Use only the specified O-ring seals as they are made of a special material for the engine cooling system.
5. Connect the heater core tubes to the heater core.
6. Install the two clamps (2) that secure the heater core tubes to the heater core. Tighten the screws on the clamps to 1.7 Nm (15 in. lbs.).





7. When equipped with power adjustable pedals, reconnect the adjuster cable (1) to the accelerator pedal adjuster motor (2).





8. Carefully reposition the instrument panel (4) and engage the retaining tabs that secure the left and right side of the instrument panel to the body.
9. Install the two bolts (5) that secure the left and right side of the instrument panel to the body. Tighten the bolts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the three screws (2) that secure the top of the instrument panel to the spring nuts (1). Tighten the screws securely.
11. Install the two bolts (3) that secure the top of the instrument panel to the cowl panel. Tighten the bolts to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).





12. Install the defroster grille (1). Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged.

13. Install the left and right side A-pillar trim panels (1) A-Pillar Trim Panel - Installation.





14. Install the two bolts (1) that secure the center of the instrument panel to the floor pan. Tighten the bolts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).

15. Install the center floor console Floor Console - Installation.
16. Install the steering column Steering Column - Installation.
17. Install the left and right side instrument panel end caps (1). Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged.
18. Install the left and right side instrument panel silencers Silencer Panel - Installation.
19. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
20. If the heater core is being replaced, flush the cooling system Service and Repair.
21. Refill the engine cooling system Service and Repair.
