Fuel Door Switch - Description
DESCRIPTION
The fuel door release switch (1) is mounted in the map pocket of the driver side front door inside trim panel. Only the switch button is visible on the outer surface of the trim panel. The black plastic switch button has a white International Control and Display Symbol icon applied to it, which clearly identifies its function. A Light Emitting Diode (LED) unit within the switch illuminates the icon on the switch button for improved visibility.
The black, molded plastic switch housing encloses the switch button mechanism and the switch circuitry including the switch contacts. A connector receptacle (3) is integral to the back of the switch housing, while integral latch features (2) and an alignment spline (4) on the sides of the housing are used to secure and locate the switch within a mounting receptacle integral to a reinforcement on the back side of the door trim panel. The fuel door release switch is connected to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the door wire harness.
The fuel door release switch cannot be adjusted or repaired and, if ineffective or damaged, the unit must be replaced.
