Ultrasonic Sensor: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTION
The Intrusion Module, sometimes referred to as Intrusion Transceiver Module (ITM), is used on some export vehicles only. Its function is to sense any interior movement while the vehicle is parked and secured. Besides having two exterior sensors it also has an internal sensor that senses the tilt and motion of the sensor itself. This protects against tire theft and tow away. When interior movement or module motion is detected, it will trip the Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) and sound the equipped siren. When tripped it will also send a CAN Bus message to the Body Control Module and the Radio Frequency Hub to actuate their respective actions such as flash the lamps and immobilize the engine etc.
The Intrusion Module is mounted in the headliner near the 2nd row overhead lamp assembly. There is one sensor in the snap plate of the second row lamp assembly, and one sensor in the snap plate of the third row lamp assembly. The sensor harness is glued to the underside of the headliner.
