Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC)

U1415-00-IMPLAUSIBLE/MISSING VEHICLE CONFIGURATION DATA

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

When powered, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) performs an internal self test. The repair of this fault does not involve any external circuitry and centers on verifying that the module is configured correctly for the vehicle's Restraint system components.

- When Monitored:
The ORC checks for a configuration message from the Body Control Module (BCM) during first 16 seconds at start up.

- Set Condition:
This DTC sets when the configuration message is not equal to the programmed message or when the configuration message is missing. Once set, this DTC is latched for the ignition cycle.

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Restraints System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure.

1. DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC

NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Using the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

Is the DTC active or stored?

ORC - ACTIVE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

- Go To 2

ORC - STORED DTC

- Perform the RESTRAINT SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Occupant Restraint Controller - Removal.

2. REPLACE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)
1. Turn the ignition Off.
2. Replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Body Control Module - Removal.
3. Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector - use the most current software available.
4. Using the scan tool, erase all codes in the ORC.

NOTE: The ORC Reset Function must be performed after the repair to force the module to retest for this DTC.

5. Perform ORC module reset. Access the Diagnostic Procedures menu from the ORC ECU Overview screen on the scan tool to perform this operation.
6. Wait one minute, and read active codes.

Does the U1415-00-Implausible/Missing Vehicle Configuration Data DTC return?
