B259F-13
B259F-13-TRUNK/LIFTGATE LOCK CONTROL CIRCUIT - CIRCUIT OPEN
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
Theory of Operation
After receiving the appropriate requests over the communication network or the input from the Decklid Release Switch, the Body Control Module (BCM) provides voltage to the decklid lock release motor on the decklid release driver circuit. The return path is provided through a dedicated path to ground. For additional information on Power Locks operation, Power Locks - Operation.
- When Monitored:
While the Decklid Release Driver is not active.
- Set Condition:
When the Body Control Module senses an open on the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit for more than one second.
1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
3. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display DTC: B259F-13-TRUNK/LIFTGATE LOCK CONTROL CIRCUIT - CIRCUIT OPEN?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
2. CHECK THE (P31) DECKLID/LIFTGATE RELEASE DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the BCM F harness connector.
3. Disconnect the Decklid Door Latch harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance of the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit between the BCM F harness connector and the Decklid Door Latch harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the open in the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
3. CHECK THE (Z917) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z917) Ground circuit at the Decklid Door Latch harness connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the open in the (Z917) Ground circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
4. CHECK THE BCM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
1. Reconnect the BCM F harness connector.
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. Connect a 12-volt test light between the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit and the (Z917) Ground circuit at the Decklid Door Latch harness connector.
4. Press and release the Decklid Release Switch.
Does the test light illuminate when the Decklid Release Switch is pressed?
Yes
- Replace the Decklid Release Motor/Latch. Latch - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
