B259F-11-TRUNK/LIFTGATE LOCK CONTROL CIRCUIT - CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

After receiving the appropriate requests over the communication network or the input from the Decklid Release Switch, the Body Control Module (BCM) provides voltage to the decklid lock release motor on the decklid release driver circuit. The return path is provided through a dedicated path to ground. For additional information on Power Locks operation, Power Locks - Operation.

- When Monitored:
While the Decklid Release Driver is active.

- Set Condition:
When the Body Control Module senses a low condition on the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit for more than one second.

1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
3. Press and release the Decklid Release Switch.
4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display DTC: B259F-11-TRUNK/LIFTGATE LOCK CONTROL CIRCUIT - CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. CHECK THE DECKLID RELEASE MOTOR FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Decklid Door Latch harness connector.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Press and release the Decklid Release Switch.
5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display DTC: B259F-11-TRUNK/LIFTGATE LOCK CONTROL CIRCUIT - CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Replace the Decklid Release Motor/Latch. Latch - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

3. CHECK THE (P31) DECKLID/LIFTGATE RELEASE DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the BCM F harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit.

Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the short to ground in the (P31) Decklid/Liftgate Release Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
