B2303-13-WIPER PARK SWITCH INPUT - CIRCUIT OPEN

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) provides a reference voltage on the wiper park switch sense circuit through a pull-up resistor that is connected to battery voltage. The Wiper Park Switch switches the signal circuit to ground when the wiper motor is in the park position.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

Front Wiper is off or Front Wiper is on following a time-out period.

- Set Condition:
The Body Control Module (BCM) does not detect low voltage on the Front Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit when the wipers are in the park position.

1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
3. Cycle the Wiper Switch on and off three times.
4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. CHECK THE FRONT WIPER MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
3. Connect a jumper wire between the (W7) Front Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit and ground.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. With the scan tool, read the Front Wiper Park Switch Sense.

Does the Front Wiper Park Switch Sense display: Parked?

Yes

- Replace the Front Wiper Motor. Wiper Motor - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. CHECK (W7) FRONT WIPER PARK SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove the jumper wire.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Measure the voltage between ground and the (W7) Front Wiper Park Switch Sense at the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.

Is the voltage above 10.5 volts?

Yes

- Replace the BCM. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the open in the (W7) Front Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
