Theory of Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) is the Local Interconnect Network (LIN) master for the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS). The IBS performs an internal self test and sends the information to the BCM. The repair of this fault condition does not involve any external circuitry and centers on verifying the integrity of the internal circuitry and software validity.

- When Monitored:
Continuously.

- Set Condition:
The Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) detects an internal fault.





REPLACE THE IBS IF THE DTC IS ACTIVE
1. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Replace the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS). Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
