B182C-12-ALL DOOR LOCK CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

After receiving the appropriate requests over the communication network, the Body Control Module (BCM) controls an internal relay to provide voltage to all the door lock motors on the door lock driver circuit. The return path is provided through the door unlock driver circuit. For additional information on Power Locks operation, Power Locks - Operation.

- When Monitored:
Continuously

- Set Condition:
When the Body Control Module senses a high condition on the (P777) Door Lock Driver circuit for more than one second.

1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
3. Lock and unlock the doors.
4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display DTC: B182C-12-ALL DOOR LOCK CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. CHECK EACH MOTOR ON THE (P777) DOOR LOCK DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO BATTERY

NOTE: Using the wiring diagram as a guide, disconnect each component on the circuit one at a time and check for an active DTC.

1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect one of the Door Lock Motors on the circuit.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Lock and unlock the doors.
5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display DTC: B182C-12-ALL DOOR LOCK CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY?

Yes

- Repeat this step for all the Door Lock Motors on the circuit. Once all the motors are disconnected: Go To 3

No

- Replace the Door Lock Motor/Latch causing the short to voltage condition. Front Door Carrier Plate - Removal or Rear Door Carrier Plate - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

3. CHECK THE (P777) DOOR LOCK DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the BCM F harness connector.
3. Measure the voltage between ground and the (P777) Door Lock Driver circuit.

Is there any voltage present?

Yes

- Repair the short to voltage in the (P777) Door Lock Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
