B1676-15
B1676-15-PASSENGER COURTESY LAMP CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY OR OPEN
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
Theory of Operation
The Puddle Lamp is a LED with a built in circuit board. The Body Control Module controls the operation and sends a bus message to the Door Module to turn the lamp on or off.
- When Monitored:
When the Puddle (courtesy) lamp is on.
- Set Condition:
If the Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit is on when it should be off or off when it should be on, for over 2000 ms. and the above conditions are met, this code will set.
1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. Lower the passenger door window.
4. Cycle the ignition on to off three times. Leave it in the Lock position.
5. Close then open the passenger door.
6. Turn the ignition on.
7. Wait one minute.
8. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: B1676-15-PASSENGER COURTESY LAMP CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY OR OPEN?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
2. (M44) PASSENGER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove the inner door panel trim. Front Door Trim Panel - Removal.
3. Leave the Passenger Door Puddle Lamp connector connected.
4. Disconnect the Passenger Door Module C5 harness connector.
5. Turn the ignition on.
6. Measure the voltage between ground and the (M44) Passenger Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit in the Passenger Door Module C5 harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (M44) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 3
3. (M44) PASSENGER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Be sure the Passenger Door Puddle Lamp connector is still connected.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Connect a fused jumper wire, connected to B(+), to the (M44) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit in the PDM C5 harness connector.
5. Connect a jumper wire, connected to ground, to the (M36) Passenger Door Lighting Return circuit in the PDM C5 harness connector
Does the Passenger Door Puddle Lamp illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Replace the Passenger Door Module. Door Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 4
4. (M44) PASSENGER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Passenger Door Puddle Lamp harness connector.
