B1676-11-PASSENGER COURTESY LAMP CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

Theory of Operation

When the front door is opened, the puddle lamp operates at the same time and conditions as the overhead courtesy lamps. The Body Control Module sends the command to the Door Module to turn it on or off.

- When Monitored:
Whenever the Puddle (courtesy) lamp is on.

- Set Condition:
When the Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit falls below 3.0 volts for over 2000 ms. and the above conditions are met, this code will set.





1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. Lower the passenger door window.
4. Cycle the ignition on to off three times. Leave it in the Lock position.
5. Close then open the passenger door.
6. Turn the ignition on.
7. Wait one minute.
8. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: B1676-11-PASSENGER COURTESY LAMP CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. PASSENGER DOOR PUDDLE LAMP SHORTED




1. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Remove the inner door panel trim. Front Door Trim Panel - Removal.
4. Disconnect the Passenger Door Puddle Lamp connector if it is not already disconnected.
5. Close then open the Passenger door.
6. Turn the ignition on.
7. Wait one minute.
8. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: B1672-11-PASSENGER COURTESY LAMP CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND as Active?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Replace the Passenger Door Puddle Lamp Assembly.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

3. (M43) PASSENGER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND




1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Passenger Door Module (PDM) C5 harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance between Ground and the (M43) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit in the PDM C5 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 20K Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the short to ground in the (M43) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 4

4. (M43) PASSENGER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO THE (M34) PASSENGER DOOR LIGHTING RETURN CIRCUIT




1. Measure the resistance between the (M43) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit and the (M34) Passenger Door Lighting Return circuit in the PDM C5 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 20K Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the short between the (M43) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit and the (M34) Passenger Door Lighting Return circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the Passenger Door Module. Door Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
