Clock: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION

Chrysler vehicles include an electrically operated analog clock as standard equipment. The clock includes hands for both hours and minutes, but no second hand. The hands are protected behind a clear acrylic lens. The clock includes a reset button that allows the hands to be reset or adjusted to the desired time. Two Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps provide panel lamps dimmer controlled back lighting for visibility at night when the exterior lighting is turned ON.

The analog clock (1) is secured with screws to the back of the instrument panel center stack bezel (2), between the two center panel air distribution outlets. The reset button (4) extends through a clearance hole in the clock bezel at the 45 minute mark. The molded plastic clock housing includes two integral mounting tabs and an integral connector receptacle, which connects the clock to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the instrument panel wire harness.

The clock can not be repaired and, if ineffective or damaged, the entire clock unit must be replaced. The two incandescent bulb and bulb holder units are available for individual service replacement.
