Heated Seat Switch - Operation
OPERATION
The heated seat system operates on battery current received through a fused ignition Run circuit, so that the system will only operate when the engine is running. With a heated seat on, if the ignition is set to any position other than RUN, the heated seat system will turn off, and remain off, until the engine is restarted and a heated seat switch is pressed again.
Pressing a heated seat switch provides a resistive signal over a hard-wired circuits to the Cabin Compartment Node (CCN) over the Local Interface Network (LIN) bus. The CCN sends a request signal over the LIN bus to the Heated Seat Module (HSM), signaling the HSM to power the heated seat elements for the selected seat. Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) in each switch indicate the level of heat in use. The LEDs for the heated seat switches are controlled by the CCN.
The front heated seat switches are diagnosed using a scan tool Testing and Inspection.
The front heated seat switches cannot be adjusted or repaired and if a switch or its LEDs are damaged or inoperative, the accessory switchbank must be replaced Instrument Cluster Switch Pod - Removal.
