Power Seats - Description






DESCRIPTION





The available power seat system allows the operator to electrically adjust the driver seat position using the power seat switch assembly (1 and 2) located on the outboard seat cushion side shield (3).

The driver eight-way power seat includes a six-way adjustable seat cushion track and a two-way power seat back. The driver power seat can be adjusted up, down, front up, front down, forward, rearward, recliner forward and recliner rearward.





The power seat adjuster (1) used on convertible models contain two reversible motors that are connected to worm-drive gearboxes that move the seat adjuster through screw-type drive units. These motors are the height adjust motor (3) and the front tilt motor (2). A third motor is responsible for the fore and aft movement of the seat. The fore/aft motor (4) is a reversible motor that is connected through two flex drive cables to a worm-drive gearbox that moves the seat adjuster through a screw-type drive unit. Each motor contains a self-resetting circuit breaker to protect it from overload. Consecutive or frequent resetting of the circuit breakers may damaged the motors.

The power seat adjuster assembly used on sedan models is made up of an upper and a lower power seat adjuster. The upper power seat adjuster contains one reversible motor (1) that is connected to a gearbox that tilts the front of the seat cushion up and down. The lower power seat adjusted contains two reversible motors connected to gearboxes. One motor (2) tilts the rear of the seat up and down and the other motor (3) moves the seat assembly forward and rearward. When the rear and front tilt motors are activated together, the height of the driver seat raises and lowers. Each motor contains a self-resetting circuit breaker to protect it from overload. Consecutive or frequent resetting of the circuit breakers may damage the motors.

The power seat motors for sedan models cannot be adjusted or repaired and if inoperative or damaged, the entire power seat adjuster assembly must be replaced . Service and Repair





The power seat option on all models include an electrically operated power reclining seat back that replaces the manual reclining seat back. The power recliner switch is integral to the power seat switch, but is actuated by a separate lever Power Seat Switch - Description.

The power recliner motor is mounted in the place of the seat hinge on the right side of the seat back frame. The lower hinge plates of the power reclining seat back are secured by two bolts on each side of the seat bottom pan.

The power recliner motor cannot be adjusted or repaired and if inoperative or damaged, the entire seat back and power recliner mechanism must be replaced as an assembly Front Seat Back Recliner - Removal.
