B1634-LEFT HI BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH

- When Monitored:
With the high beam headlamps activated.
- Set Condition:
When the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) detects a high condition.
1. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, clear all TIPM DTCs.
3. Turn the High Beam Headlamps on.
4. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.
Does the scan tool read: B1634-LEFT HI BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
2. (L33) LEFT HIGH BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the TIPM C5 harness connector.
3. Disconnect the Left Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C2 (Dodge) harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance of the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit.
Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit for an open condition.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 3
3. (L33) LEFT HIGH BEAM CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Measure for voltage on the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes
- Repair the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit for a short to voltage condition.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 4
4. CHECK THE TIPM FOR CORRECT OPERATION
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Reconnect the TIPM C5 harness connector.
3. Connect a 12-volt test light between the (L33) Left High Beam Control circuit and ground in the Left Front Lamp Assembly C5 (Chrysler) or C2 (Dodge) harness connector.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Turn the High Beam Headlamps on.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- For Dodge vehicles, replace the Inoperative bulb. Front Lamp Unit - Removal. For Chrysler vehicles, replace the Front Lamp Unit. Front Lamp Unit - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
