SUBJECT:
Exhaust Drone Or Vibration At 2200 - 2500 RPM
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a revised exhaust isolator an repositioning the exhaust system.
MODELS:
2011 JS 200/Avenger/200 Convertible
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with the 3.6L engine (Sales Code ERB) and 62TE automatic transmission (Sales Code DG2) built before January 13, 2011 (MDH 011306).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Vehicles may exhibit an exhaust drone or vibration while being driven at or near a steady state of 2200 - 2500 engine RPM.
DIAGNOSIS:
If customers complain of an exhaust drone or vibration at or near 2200 - 2500 engine RPM, perform the following repair procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Raise vehicle on a hoist.
2. Remove front exhaust isolator.
3. Install new front exhaust isolator (p/n 04766177AA).
4. Loosen Torca joint at outlet of flex assembly.
CAUTION:
Take care to not deform the clamp.
5. Loosen Torca joint at inlet of flex assembly.
CAUTION:
Take care to not deform the clamp.
6. Neutralize the exhaust by slightly separating the upstream pipe from downstream pipe on both joints.
7. Reassemble Torca joint at inlet of flex assembly. Do not torque the fastener at this time.
8. Reassemble Torca joint at outlet of flex assembly. Do not torque the fastener at this time.
9. Ensure flex hose does not have any offset and is straight from inlet to outlet.
10. Torque Torca joint fastener at inlet of flex assembly to 41 ft. lbs. (55 Nm).
11. Torque Torca joint fastener at outlet of flex assembly to 41 ft. lbs (55 Nm).
12. Lower vehicle.
