Sunroof / Moonroof Switch: Testing and Inspection

DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

For complete circuit diagrams, refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, details of wire harness routing and retention, connector pin-out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.

1. Remove the overhead console. Front Overhead Console - Removal.
2. Disconnect the overhead wire harness connector from the power sunroof switch.
3. With the ignition switch in the ON position, check for 5 volts on the Open, Close and Vent circuits of the overhead wire harness connector for the sunroof switch. If OK, go to 4. If not OK, test the overhead wire harness and connectors between the sunroof motor module and the sunroof switch for opens or shorts and repair as required.
4. With the ignition switch in the OFF position, check for continuity between the ground circuit of the overhead wire harness connector for the sunroof switch and a known good ground. Continuity should be present. If OK, go to 5. If not OK, inspect the overhead wire harness and connectors for opens and repair the ground circuit as required.
5. Using an ohmmeter, test the continuity of the power sunroof switch in each switch position. Refer to the Power Sunroof Switch Tests table. If not OK, replace the sunroof switch as a unit with the overhead console assembly. Front Overhead Console - Installation.
