B2528-TONNEAU COVER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN OR HARDWARE THERMO PROTECTION ACTIVE
- When Monitored:
Whenever the Tonneau Motor is commanded to move.
- Set Condition:
When the Tonneau Cover Motor is given a command to move but there is no current draw on the driver circuits for over 400ms, this code will set.
Always perform the Power Top System Pre-Diagnostic procedure before proceeding. Power Top System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure.
1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. With the power top switch, extend and retract the Tonneau Cover several times (if possible).
4. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B2528-TONNEAU COVER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN OR HARDWARE THERMO PROTECTION ACTIVE?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. With the scan tool, check the Environmental Data to help identify the conditions in which the DTC was set. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
2. TONNEAU COVER MOTOR OVERHEATED
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Wait five minutes to allow the motor to cool down.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Using the scan tool, manually operate the tonneau cover to the full retracted and extended positions several times (if possible).
Does the motor operate properly?
Yes
- Test complete. If the motor continues to set this DTC, replace the motor.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 3
3. TONNEAU COVER MOTOR OPEN
1. Disconnect the Tonneau Cover Motor connector.
2. Using a 12-volt test light, connect one end to the (Q983) Tonneau Cover Motor Retract Driver circuit in the motor connector.
3. Connect the other end of the 12-volt test light to the (Q984) Tonneau Cover Motor Extend Driver circuit in the motor connector.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. With the scan tool, manually operate the Tonneau Cover Motor in both directions several times while observing the test light.
Does the test light illuminate brightly each time the motor is run in both directions?
Yes
- Replace the Tonneau Cover Motor.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 4
4. (Q983) TONNEAU COVER MOTOR RETRACT DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Power Top Control Module C2 connector.
3. Measure the resistance of the (Q983) Tonneau Cover Motor Retract Driver circuit between the PTCM C2 connector and the Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
No
- Repair the (Q983) Tonneau Cover Motor Retract Driver circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
Yes
- Go To 5
5. (Q984) TONNEAU COVER MOTOR EXTEND DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Measure the resistance of the (Q984) Tonneau Cover Motor Extend Driver circuit between the PTCM C2 connector and the Motor connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
No
- Repair the (Q984) Tonneau Cover Motor Extend Driver circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
Yes
- Replace the Power Top Control Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
