Water Leaks





WATER LEAKS

CAUTION: Avoid high-pressure washes, as they can damage the top material. Also, increased water pressure may force water past the weatherstrips.




Water Leak Zones





WATER LEAK - ZONE A





1. Header weatherstrip (1) not installed correctly, not in retainer or positioned correctly, tape not adhered.
a. Remove the backing to the tape and firmly seat the header weatherstrip into position.
b. Firmly seat the weatherstrip into the correct position.
c. Adjust the weatherstrip. Adjustments.
d. Replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
e. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.
2. Front rail weatherstrip (2) not installed correctly.
a. Adjust the weatherstrip. Adjustments.
b. Replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





3. Door and quarter glass not adjusted properly.
a. Adjust door glass. Adjustments.
b. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





4. Foam not sticking along entire header.
a. Replace the header foam.
b. Firmly seat foam to header.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





5. Hole (2) in molded corner of header weatherstrip (1).
a. Replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
b. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





6. Bad body shop sealer in ditch molding.
a. Remove the ditch molding.
b. Skive smooth entire length of bead forming a smooth transition (2).
c. Install the ditch molding.
d. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.

WATER LEAK - ZONE B





1. Middle rail weatherstrip (4) not installed correctly.
a. Adjust the weatherstrip. Adjustments.
b. Replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





2. Mid panel (2) weatherstrip not installed correctly.
a. Firmly seat the weatherstrip into place.
b. Faulty mid panel weatherstrip, replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





3. Mid panel weatherstrip (1) delaminated (2).
a. Faulty mid panel weatherstrip. Replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
b. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





4. Mid panel weatherstrip (1) attachment screws (2) missing or installed incorrectly.
a. Install the missing or incorrect screws to the mid panel weatherstrip.
b. Faulty mid panel weatherstrip, replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





5. Foam (2) short or not attached to mid panel weatherstrip (1).
a. Faulty foam, replace the foam on the mid panel weatherstrip.
b. Faulty mid panel weatherstrip. Replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





6. Riv-nuts (1) not installed correctly.
a. If the riv-nut is loose, find a screw (3) that threads into riv-nut.
b. Place a nut (2) on the screw and then put a washer (5) on and screw into the riv-nut.
c. Install the riv-nut into the mid panel (4) hole.
d. Using wrench hold screw end and drive nut toward panel, this will flare the riv-nut.
e. Remove screw/nut/washer and verify no movement of riv-nut to panel.
f. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





7. Drain tubes (3) not installed correctly.
a. Adjust the routing of the drain tubes.
b. Faulty drain tubes, replace the drain tubes.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





8. Door and quarter glass not adjusted properly.
a. Adjust door glass. Adjustments.
b. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.

WATER LEAK - ZONE C





1. Rear rail weatherstrip (2) not installed correctly.
a. Adjust the weatherstrip. Adjustments.
b. Replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





2. Door and quarter glass not adjusted properly.
a. Adjust door glass. Adjustments.
b. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.

WATER LEAK - ZONE D





1. Rear Trough weatherstrip (2) not installed correctly.
a. Replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
b. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.
2. Decklid weatherstrip (3) not installed correctly.
a. Replace the weatherstrip. Convertible Top Weatherstrip - Removal.
b. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





3. Weatherstrip decklid tape backing (1) not removed.
a. Remove the tape backing and ensure the decklid seal (2) is attached to the quarter panel.
b. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.





4. Decklid mounted foam (1) missing or not installed correctly.
a. Adjust the placement of the foam on the decklid (2).
b. Install new foam to the decklid. Ensure the foam contacts convertible top top seal and decklid seal mold when the decklid is closed.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.

WATER LEAK - ZONE E





1. Seam (1) on top cover (2) leaking.
a. Verify top cover is stitched correctly (5 and 6) or if it is incorrect (3 and 4).
b. Replace the top cover. Folding Top Cover - Removal.
c. Retest for water leaks. Water Leak Test.
