SUBJECT:
Damp Front Carpet
OVERVIEW:
This involves inspecting the front floor and/or floor mat for dampness and if necessary installing a new heat shield.
MODELS:
JS 2010 Avenger/Sebring
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before September 14, 2009 (MDH0914XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a damp front floor.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the Symptom/Condition is found perform the repair procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Inspect the front floor for dampness. Was the floor damp?
a. Yes >>> Proceed to Step # 2.
b. No >>> This bulletin does not apply further diagnosis is required.
2. Open the hood and locate the a/c liquid line and follow it to where it connects to the HVAC module at the bulk head (Fig. 2).
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in:
DealerConnect > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 04- Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting > Standard Procedure > Hoisting.
4. Install Heat Shield P/N 05155295AA from underneath the vehicle around the A/C liquid line to HVAC mounting location (Fig. 1) and (Fig. 2) with the part number on the shield facing the engine.
5. Lower the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in:
DealerConnect > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 04- Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting > Standard Procedure > Hoisting.
6. Remove the engine cover on vehicles equipped with a 3.5L V6 only. Refer to the detailed removal and installation procedures available in: DealerConnect > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 09- Engine> Removal > Step 1.
7. Install the mounting nut p/n 06508772AA as shown in (Fig 3).
8. Install the engine cover for vehicles equipped with a 3.5L V6 only. Refer to the detailed removal and installation procedures available in: DealerConnect > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 09- Engine > Installation > Step 44.
9. Return the vehicle to the customer or dealer inventory.
