Power Top Switch - Operation
OPERATION
The power top switch is hard wired to the Power Top Control Module (PTCM) through the Power Top Switch Mux circuit. The PTCM supplies a multiplexed signal voltage to the power top switch. Through a series of resistors the power top switch sends back a return signal to the PTCM indicating the chosen function. The circuit resistance is varied depending on the switch position. When a top operation input is received by the PTCM, it will ground the respective power top relay control circuit which in turn will operate the power top motor. If the power top switch is pressed to the down position second detent, the PTCM will supply a signal over the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus circuit to the Driver Door Module and Passenger Door Module to drop the front windows to the fully down position. Simultaneously the PTCM sends a hard wired signal to both rear window motors dropping them to the fully down position.
