B234C-WIPER MOTOR HI SPEED CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
- When Monitored:
Continuously with the ignition on and wipers on high speed.
- Set Condition:
The code will set if the Totally Integrate Power Module detects an open in the front wiper high speed control circuit.
1. CONDITION PRESENT
1. Ignition on, engine off.
2. Turn the front wipers on.
Does the Front Wiper Motor Function?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Go To 3
2. INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, erase all TIPM DTCs.
3. Turn the ignition off.
4. The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.
5. Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
6. Wiggle the wiring while checking for shorts and open circuits.
Were there any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Test Complete.
3. FUSED ACCESSORY RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT
1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
2. Disconnect the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
3. Ignition on, engine off.
4. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Fused Accessory Relay Output circuit in the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the Fused Accessory Relay Output circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
4. FRONT WIPER MOTOR
1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
2. Disconnect the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
3. Ignition on, engine off.
4. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12 Volts, check the (W4) Front Wiper High Speed Control circuit in the Front Wiper Motor harness connector while pressing the Front Washer Switch.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Replace the Front Wiper Motor.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 5
5. (W4) FRONT WIPER HIGH SPEED CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
2. Disconnect the TIPM C11 harness connector.
3. Disconnect the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
4. Measure the resistance of the (W4) Front Wiper High Speed Control Circuit from the TIPM C11 connector to the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (W4) Front Wiper High Speed Control Circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 6
6. (W4) FRONT WIPER HIGH SPEED CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
2. Disconnect the TIPM C11 harness connector.
3. Disconnect the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (W4) Front Wiper High Speed Control circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Repair the (W4) Front Wiper High Speed Control Circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
