Power Top Control Module (PTCM)
B210B-SYSTEM VOLTAGE HIGH
- When Monitored:
With the ignition switch on.
- Set Condition:
The Power Top Control Module (PTCM) has detected the system voltage above 16 volts for over 15 seconds.
Always perform the Power Top System Pre-Diagnostic procedure before proceeding. Power Top System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure.
CHECK FOR ANY POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULES DTCS
NOTE: Make sure the Battery is in good condition. Using the Midtronics Battery Tester, test the Battery before continuing.
NOTE: Inspect the vehicle for after market accessories that may exceed the Generator System output.
NOTE: Inspect the fuses in the IPM. If an open fuse is found, use the wire diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for damage.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, clear the DTCs.
3. Start the engine and let run at fast idle for 90 seconds.
4. Using the scan tool, read Active PCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display any Active PCM DTCs?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.Diagnostics.
- For gas engine applications, Testing and Inspection.
No
- This DTC will only set when the Vehicle Electrical System is high. Check the above conditions that can cause a high voltage condition. Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
