B161E-READING LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT







- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

- Set Condition:
When the Cluster detects a short to battery, ground or an open on the (M27) Reading/Rail Lamps Driver circuit.





1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Turn the Reading Lamps on.
3. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.

2. CHECK THE (M27) READING/RAIL LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND




1. Turn the Reading Lamps off.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Disconnect the Cluster C2 harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance between the (M27) Reading/Rail Lamps Driver circuit and ground.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (M27) Reading/Rail Lamps Driver circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. CHECK THE (M27) READING/RAIL LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN




1. Disconnect the Map Lamp harness connector.
2. Measure the resistance of the (M27)Reading/Rail Lamps Driver circuit.

Is the resistance above 100.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (M27) Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the Cluster.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
