NUMBER: 23-009-09

GROUP: Body

DATE: April 17, 2009

SUBJECT:
"Replacement" Seat Back Latch Handle Looseness

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves adding a piece of BSR tape to the seat back recliner latch shaft to tighten the loose handle.

MODELS:

2008 - 2009 (JS) Sebring Convertible

NOTE:
This Service Bulletin applies to models built prior to April 1, 2009 (MDH 0401XX).

DISCUSSION:

When replacing a seat back recliner handle, looseness of the handle on the recliner shaft may be found when using an AD level part on vehicles built prior to April 1, 2009. To correct for the loose feel, a 5 mm X 44 mm (0.196 in X 1.75 in) strip of BSR tape pn 05019054AA must be placed at a right angle to the shaft master splines and wrapped over the shaft prior to handle installation. The BSR tape will take up any movement in the handle and provide a tight fit (Fig. 1)

PARTS REQUIRED:

NOTE:
1 strip of BSR tape will service 25 to 30 seat recliner handles.

POLICY:
