WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and possible personal injury or death.
NOTE: Take the proper precautions to protect the front face of the trim panels from cosmetic damage while performing these procedures.
NOTE: LHD passenger air outlet shown. RHD and other instrument panel air outlets similar.
1. If servicing the passenger side air outlet, remove the passenger trim bezel from the instrument panel and place it on a workbench Removal.
2. If servicing the driver side air outlet, remove the cluster bezel from the instrument panel and place it on a workbench Instrument Panel Cluster Bezel - Removal.
3. If servicing a center air outlet, remove the center bezel from the instrument panel and place it on a workbench Instrument Panel Center Bezel - Removal.
4. Carefully disengage the four retaining clips (2) that secure the air outlet (1) to the trim panel (3) using a trim stick or other suitable wide flat-blade tool and remove the outlet.
