Engine - Removal







REMOVAL

NOTE: Capture and store any residual fluid drainage, or leakage from ancillary components, in the appropriately marked containers.

1. Remove the engine cover.




2. Disconnect negative battery cable (1).
3. Drain the cooling system Service and Repair.
4. Evacuate and recover the air conditioning system[1][2]Capacity Specifications.
5. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure Service and Repair.




6. Disconnect fuel line (1) from the fuel rail inlet (2) and position aside.




7. Remove the Air Cleaner Housing Air Cleaner Housing - Removal.




8. Remove the Upper Intake Manifold (2) Intake Manifold - Removal.
9. Raise the vehicle.




10. Remove the 12 belly pan fasteners (1) and remove the belly pan (2).




11. Disconnect the Exhaust Extension Pipe (1) and gasket (2) from the Crossunder pipe (3).




12. Remove the Center Brace (1)Service and Repair.
13. Remove the Cross Under Pipe Cross Pipe - Removal.
14. Remove the Right Front Half Shaft assembly Half Shaft - Removal.
15. Remove Rear Maniverter Exhaust Manifold - Removal.
16. Remove the PTU Removal.




17. Remove the Right Forward Splash Shield Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield - Removal.
18. Remove the Left Forward Splash Shield Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield - Removal.




19. Remove the Front Closeout Panel Removal.




20. Remove the Front Engine Mount Bracket (2) Front Engine Mount.
21. Disconnect starter motor electrical connectors. Remove starter motor and shim Starter Motor - Removal.




22. Disconnect the Lower Coolant Hose (1) from the return tube (2).
23. Lower Vehicle.
24. Remove the Left Front Half Shaft Half Shaft - Removal.
25. Remove the Left Front Inner Wheel Well.




26. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) at the crankshaft position sensor (3).
27. Remove hold down bolt (1) at the crankshaft position sensor (3).
28. Remove the crankshaft position sensor (3).




29. Disconnect the positive auxiliary battery post cable (2) from the left shock tower and position aside.




30. Disconnect the 2 PCM harness connectors (1) and position aside.




31. Disconnect the heater core supply hose (1) from the intake manifold outlet (2).




32. Disconnect the coolant reservoir overflow hose (2) from the coolant bottle (4) and position aside.




33. Disconnect the Upper Radiator hose (1) from the thermostat housing (2) and position aside.




34. Disconnect both A/C lines (1) and (2) from the A/C compressor (3).




35. Disconnect the A/C pressure transducer harness connector (1).
36. Disconnect and remove the A/C discharge line (3) from the condenser (4).
37. Remove the Front Maniverter Exhaust Manifold - Removal.
38. Remove the Fan Module Radiator Fan - Removal.




39. Disconnect the power steering pressure (1) and supply hoses (2) from the power steering pump (3).
40. Support engine with a suitable lifting device or support fixture.
41. Remove the transmission Removal.
42. Install special tool #8334, engine lift bracket on the front of the engine.
43. Install Engine Lifting Chains.
44. Attach Lifting Chains to Engine Lift.




45. Remove 3 right Engine mount bolts.
46. Remove Ground Strap from the Hood and position hood back.
47. Remove the Engine.
