B. Reprogram the Power Top Control Module Using Starmobile

NOTE:
The StarMOBILE tool must be at version 8.04 or higher before this procedure can be performed.

1. Install a battery charger and verify that the charging rate provides approximately 13.5 volts. Set the battery charger to continuous charge. Do not allow the charger to time out during the flash process.

2. Use the following procedure to determine the PTCM software part number:

a. Connect the StarMOBILE to the vehicle data link connector and turn the ignition key to the "RUN" position.

b. Connect the CH9410 ethernet cable to the StarMOBILE and the dealer's network drop.

c. Power ON the StarMOBILE.

d. From the desktop, launch the "StarMOBILE Desktop Client" software.

e. Select "NEXT" twice.

f. From the on-screen list, choose the StarMOBILE that is being used and then press "NEXT" once and then press the "FINISH" button.

g. From the StarMOBILE "Home" Screen, select "ECU View".

h. From the StarMOBILE "ECU View" Screen, select "PTCM Power Top Control Module" from the on-screen list of modules.

i. Select "More Options".

j. Select "ECU Flash".

k. Record the old PTCM "Part Number" displayed at the end of the "Resident flash file for" statement near the top of "Flash PTCM" screen for later reference.

3. Select "Browse for New File" and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. If the newly downloaded flash file "Part Number" in the StarMOBILE is:

> the same as the number recorded in Step 2k, then the PTCM is up to date. No further action is required. Turn off and disconnect the battery charger. Then disconnect the StarMOBILE from the vehicle.

> different than the number recorded in Step 2k, the PTCM requires updating. Continue with Step 5 of this procedure.

5. Highlight the calibration and then select "Download to Client".

6. Select "Close" after the download is complete and record the newly downloaded file part number.

7. Select "Manage Files".

8. Highlight the calibration recorded in Step 6.

9. Select "Copy to SM Devise" and follow the on-screen instructions.

10. Close the StarMOBILE desktop application after the download to the scan tool is complete.

11. Disconnect the ethernet cable from the StarMOBILE scan tool.

12. From the "System Status" screen on the StarMOBILE, press the "Exit" button.

13. From the "Main Menu" highlight "Enter Standalone Diagnostic Mode" and press the "Select" button.

14. Highlight "ECU View" and press the "Select" button.

15. Highlight "PTCM" and press the "Select" button.

16. Select "Flash ECU" and press the "Select" button.

17. Push the "Select" button to start the reprogramming process and follow the on-screen screen instructions.

18. When the flash is complete, press the "OK" button.

19. Verify the part number (resident flash file) at the top of the screen has updated to the new part number.

20. Clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) using the following procedure:

a. Return to the "HOME" screen (press the "BACK" button three times).

b. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position and wait 10 seconds.

c. Turn the ignition key to the "RUN" position (engine not running).

d. From the "Home" screen highlight "All DTC's" and press the "Select" button.

e. Highlight the "Clear All Stored," press the "Select" button, and follow the on-screen instructions.

f. Start the vehicle and check for DTC's.

21. Disconnect the StarMOBILE scan tool and battery charger from the vehicle.
