WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and possible personal injury or death.
NOTE: LHD passenger air outlet shown. RHD and other instrument panel air outlets similar.
1. If servicing an outboard air outlet (2), disengage the retaining clips that secure the outlet to the instrument panel using a trim stick or other suitable wide flat-blade tool (1) and remove the outlet from the instrument panel opening.
NOTE: Take the proper precautions to protect the front face of the center bezel from cosmetic damage while performing this procedure.
2. If servicing a center air outlet, remove the center bezel and place it on a workbench Instrument Panel Center Bezel - Removal, then remove the outlet from the back of the bezel by disengaging the retaining clips.
