REMOVAL
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Put decklid in the service position, Decklid Service Position.
CAUTION: Damage to the decklid forward latch cable can result if the latch assembly is twisted or moved out of position. Slide the cable sleeve (3) forward out of the latch bracket (2) to gain freedom of movement.
3. Mark the orientation of the decklid forward latch bracket to the vehicle left inner quarter panel to ensure proper alignment during installation.
4. Remove the decklid forward latch bracket retaining bolts (1).
5. Disconnect the decklid forward latch switch electrical connector.
6. Turn the latch and bracket assembly over to gain access to the cable. Remove the cable end from the latch.
7. Remove the decklid forward latch and bracket assembly from the vehicle.
8. Working with the decklid forward latch and bracket assembly on a bench, remove the decklid forward latch retaining bolts (2)
9. Separate the latch striker pad (3) from the latch bracket (4). The striker pad (3) and the decklid forward latch sandwich the bracket (4) so that the pad pulls upward and the latch falls downward when the latch retaining bolts (2) are removed.
10. Using an 1/8 in. drill bit, drill out the rivet (1) securing the switch (4) to the decklid forward latch (2). Lift the switch upward to release the retaining tab (3) and remove the switch from the latch (2).
