Instrument Panel - Removal







REMOVAL





1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative remote cable.Battery Cables - Removal
2. Remove the driver and passenger seats. Seat - Removal.
3. Remove center bezel. Instrument Panel Center Bezel - Removal
4. Remove center console. Center Console - Removal
5. Remove the amplifier if equipped.Amplifier - Removal.
6. Remove left and right lower closeout panels. Removal
7. Remove the cowl panel and remove from vehicle. Cowl Trim - Removal.
8. Remove steering column cover.
9. Remove knee bolster panel. Removal
10. Using trim stick C-4755, remove left and right defroster outlets.
11. Using trim stick C-4755, remove center outlets.




12. Disconnect instrument panel wiring harness (2 and 3).




13. Disconnect the amplifier connectors (2 and 3).




14. Disconnect antenna wire connectors (2 and 4).
15. Remove cluster bezel.Instrument Panel Cluster Bezel - Removal
16. Remove instrument panel cluster, fasteners, and cluster connectors.




17. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, pry up on speaker grilles (1) and remove from instrument panel.
18. Remove instrument panel speakers.Speaker - Removal




19. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, pry up on bezel, disconnect wire connectors and disengage clips removing radio bezel.
20. Remove radio.Speaker - Removal
21. Using a trim stick or equivalent, gently pry out on the left and right end cover and remove from vehicle Removal.
22. Using a trim stick or equivalent, gently pry out on the right A-pillar trim and remove from vehicle A-Pillar Trim Panel-Removal.
23. Open the glove box. Pinch in on the sides and drop downward. Remove the glove box dampener. Pull down to disengage hinges and remove from instrument panel.Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal
24. Reach through glove box opening and disconnect air bag squib connectors. Passenger Airbag - Removal
25. Remove the one left side, center instrument panel support bolt.
26. Remove one bolt to the left side support strut to bulkhead.
27. Disconnect the junction block wiring connectors.
28. Disconnect all the column wiring and unclip the harness from the steering column.Steering Column - Removal
29. Remove steering column pinch bolt and remove steering column from vehicle.Steering Column - Removal
30. Disconnect the transmission shift interlock and wire connector.Removal
31. Remove instrument panel pad.Instrument Panel Pad - Removal




NOTE: Left hand shown. Right side similar.

32. Remove fasteners (1, 2, and 3) attaching instrument panel.
33. With the help of an assistant, lift up instrument panel and move rearward to remove.
34. If replacing the instrument panel, transfer all non damaged parts and wiring harness to the new instrument panel assembly.
