Convertible Models - Removal
REMOVAL - CONVERTIBLE MODELS
WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat air bags. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
FORE/AFT MOTOR
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the seat and place it on a workbench.
3. Disconnect the wire harness connector (3) from the fore/aft power seat motor (4).
4. Remove the two metal retaining sleeves (1 and 2).
5. Remove the flexible drive cables (2 and 3) from the fore/aft seat track gear boxes (1 and 4).
6. Disengage the fore/aft power seat motor (6) from the bracket (5) and remove the motor and drive cables as an assembly.
FRONT TILT MOTOR
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
. Remove the seat and place it on a workbench.
3. Remove fore/aft power seat motor.
4. Using a fore/aft power seat motor flexible drive cable and shaft (1) and a variable speed drill (2), position the right side seat track (4) to allow clearance for removal of the front tilt motor (3).
5. Disconnect the wire harness connector (2) from the front tilt power seat motor (1).
6. Remove the retaining bolt (3).
7. Position the front tilt motor (3) so that sleeve (4) can be removed from the seat bracket (1). The motor may need to be rotated counterclockwise so that the worm gear (2) is fully retracted into the sleeve for clearance.
8. Remove the front tilt power seat motor, gear, and sleeve as an assembly.
REAR TILT MOTOR
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the seat and place it on a workbench.
3. Disconnect the wire harness connector (6) from the rear tilt power seat motor (1).
4. Remove the retaining bolt (2).
5. Remove the retaining nut (5).
6. Remove the rear tilt power seat motor, gear (3) and sleeve (4) as an assembly.
